Sponsored Walk raises £1000 and counting

May 29, 2018 by

Congratulations to everyone who took part in our 15-mile sponsored walk this bank holiday weekend. Everyone who started the walk in Codicote made it to the finishing line at St Albans cathedral, helping to raise hundreds of pounds along the way.

Most of those who completed the challenge event are clients at The Living Room’s centres in Stevenage and St Albans, many of whom have started up their own fundraising pages on our website.

This walk has been a fantastic experience for me. I’ve got to talk to other people about their recovery journeys, done something that’s really healthy, and helped give something back to The Living Room at the same time.

A couple of days after the walk, the fundraisers had already raised £1000 from their on-line pages. There’s still time to read the fundraisers’ stories and donate by visiting our participants’ appeal pages.

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
