Volunteers Week – 1-7 June 2023

May 30, 2023 by

Thursday 1st June 2023

It’s Volunteers Week and we are taking the opportunity to put our brilliant volunteers under the spotlight.

Throughout the week we will be sharing stories from Volunteers and Volunteer Managers, so keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn pages to see more about the fantastic and valuable work they do, and how much they mean to us.

In our counselling rooms, our charity shops and throughout our organisation we have dynamic people working in diverse roles alongside us, giving their valuable time and energy to our cause of helping adults living with addiction in Hertfordshire.

Without doubt, The Living Room couldn’t function as it does without the hard work and dedication of our army of volunteers and this week gives us the perfect chance to celebrate and say thank you to all the volunteers who have helped and continue to help at The Living Room.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with us at our hubs in Stevenage, St Albans, Watford and in our charity shops, you can find out more about our current Volunteering Opportunities.

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
