New Cleverboard in the Crèche

January 25, 2018 by

Grant to provide learning

At a very early age children are swiping, tapping and watching devices.  Learning through interaction can be the fastest way to access new concepts and ideas.

“We do not benefit from an outdoor area so we ‘bring the outside, indoors’ whenever we can. For example filling the sand tray with leaves and twigs in the autumn and snow in the winter. Our interactive board will bring each theme to life.”

Julie Ansell Crèche Manager

Toy Trust

We applied to the Toy Trust in September 2017 and in November we heard that we were successful with our bid.  They support disadvantaged and disabled children within the UK and abroad.

Who can use the crèche?

  1. Children aged 0 to 4 years during school term time
  2. Children aged 0 to 11 years during school holiday times
  3. Children of people in treatment at The Living Room
  4. Grandchildren/children of Family and Friends accessing support at The Living Room
  5. Children of people who have completed treatment and want to volunteer*

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
