The Living Room graduates from Building Effectiveness programme

March 20, 2019 by

20th March 2019

We are delighted to have successfully completed Hertfordshire Community Foundation’s (HCF’s) Building Effectiveness programme, which helps charities to improve their practices and deliver an even better charitable services to clients throughout the county.

The Living Room was awarded with a place on Building Effectiveness for 2018 and throughout the year our chief executive, Adrienne Arthurs, has attended courses that have helped her to evaluate our charity’s key functions and tailor a development plan to improve our practice. Adrienne said, “The course has helped to put us in a strong position as we put into action our plans for an exciting future. We are indebted to HCF for putting together this course and I would thoroughly recommend the project to community organisations in Hertfordshire.”

The Living Room would especially like to thank Will Hobhouse (High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 2017) and other HCF fundholders for funding the course.

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
