The Living Room is shortlisted for the High Sheriff Award

February 27, 2023 by

Monday 27th February 2023

Each year, the High Sheriff Awards allow us to honour and recognise some of the voluntary groups in Hertfordshire. Sally Burton DL, the High Sheriff for 2022–2023, has opted to concentrate on Hertfordshire organisations working to address mental health concerns, particularly those dealing with drug and alcohol addiction.

The Awards Ceremony will commence on 9th March, and we can reveal that The Living Room has been shortlisted. It’s a huge honour and we want to thank everyone who supports our work and mission to help people break the cycle of addiction. Wish us luck!

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
