People Affected by Addiction

Addictions We Treat

Support and Recovery from Addiction

Real support.  Real understanding. Real change.

At The Living Room, you can access free, specialist group therapy and support if addiction is affecting your life. We offer a safe, welcoming space where you can begin to rebuild—supported by a community that understands.

Our programme is led by professionally trained counsellors, all of whom have their own lived experience of recovery. That means you’ll be supported by people who truly understand what you’re going through, without judgement.

Addiction can affect anyone. It often shows up in different ways—through substances like alcohol, nicotine or drugs, or through behaviours such as gambling, disordered eating, shopping, gaming, or work.

You might recognise some of the challenges that come with it:

  • feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change
  • strong urges or cravings
  • difficulty staying motivated
  • feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or out of control

Without the right support, it can feel like a cycle that’s hard to step away from. But recovery is possible.

At The Living Room, we focus on the whole person—offering the tools, structure and peer support needed to help you move forward and build a healthier, more fulfilling life.

If you’re ready to take a step, or just want to talk, we’re here.

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
