LGBTQ+ Statement

Addiction does not discriminate and neither do we.

Katie Carter is a proud and passionate supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. From personal family experience she knows the struggles faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Queer + community.   People from the community can experience homophobia, lack of support and discrimination, feelings of isolation and many more.  Under Katie’s guidance we would like to assure the LGBTQ+ community that The Living Room cares about their welfare and well-being and is here to offer support and help to them with any addictions they may be struggling with.

At The Living Room we use the pronouns ‘they, them or their’ instead of the binary ‘he or she’ in communications and have non-gender specific facilities in our Stevenage centre.

– Katie Carter, LGBTQ+ Ambassador

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
