Families Living In Recovery

Families Living in Recovery (FLiR) is a consortium project formed by The Living Room, The Relationships Service and Family Lives. We have come together to deliver Hertfordshire’s Drug and Alcohol Community Rehabilitation Service 2019 – 2029, starting on 1st April 2019.

FLiR provides free, abstinence-based rehabilitation treatment to adults in Hertfordshire who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. We take a family-approach to rehabilitation by offering structured group work and individual counselling support for individuals, families and carers affected by addiction.

Our approach supports ongoing abstinence in the community and enables individuals to re-integrate back into society and reconnect with their family. We operate from our treatment centres (and local venues) in Stevenage, St Albans and Watford.

FLiR works in partnership with Spectrum CGL, which provides Hertfordshire’s all age drug and alcohol service from 1st April 2019.

An out of hours helpline is available to those who need it – 0808 800 2222

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
