Drugs Group

Our specialist drugs group is a place for people attending Main Group to discuss drug addiction in depth. It is facilitated by two counsellors with lived experience in recovery, one of whom specialises in drug addiction. Group members are supported in sharing thoughts, feelings and experiences around drug misuse. Workshops and personal goal setting enable people to overcome addiction.

We receive referrals from GPs, Mental Health Teams, other treatment centres and self-referrals. Once a referral is made, you will be seen within three days, to undergo an assessment with a counsellor. Group therapy begins on the same day.

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
