Alcohol Addiction

Consider seeking help with your alcohol use if:

  • You drink to help yourself cope with problems
  • You have felt shame or guilt about your drinking
  • Your drinking has caused you trouble at work, home, school or college
  • You feel you have a problem with alcohol
  • You have had trouble remembering what happened the night before
  • You have been in trouble with the police due to drinking
  • You feel you need to drink more than you used to
  • You have tried to stop drinking, but couldn’t
  • You sometimes feel alcohol is the only thing keeping you together
  • You carry on drinking regardless of the damage you see it is causing
  • You prioritise your life and social activities around alcohol

Breathe in calm, breathe out stress…

The Box Breathing Tool, created by Watford counsellor Yousef Kira Durrani, is a simple yet highly effective technique designed to help regulate the nervous system during times of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or emotional discomfort.

By following a structured pattern of breathing in, holding, breathing out, and holding again for equal counts, we can slow our heart rate, calm racing thoughts, and bring our attention back to the present moment.
